Case Study Two
Project: Barber & Co (Path Level)
Client: The Donnelly Group
Type of Work: Complete Fit Out
Situation:
Barber & Co. was established in 2011 with a bespoke barbershop in Vancouver’s Gastown neighbourhood. The concept was a hit and 5 barbershops’ later, the Donnelly Group saw the opportunity to take the concept to Toronto and supply stylish Bay Street gents with the experience the time-honoured ritual of a cut, trim or shave.
Setting:
Conveniently located in the Financial Districts’ underground PATH System, Toronto’s Barber & Co. is now the barber shop where stylish Bay Street gents can enjoy the comfort, culture and community provided by old fashioned barber service and a shot of smooth whisky too.
Solution:
EN2 took on the task as General Contractor and Project Manager working alongside The Donnelly’s in-house Interior Designer Taking on the complete build out plus overseeing the details of custom chairs, wood counters, cutting edge product cabinets – those authentic details that make this a sharp spot for men’s grooming.
Success:
Barber & Co is now a destination space for haircuts, hot shaves, whisky, friendly banter and a nice compliment to the adjacent Donnelly Group’s hospitality offerings – upstairs café, beer hall and ping pong parlour.

Case Study Three
Project: Pong Bar (Basement)
Client: The Donnelly Group
Type of Work: Complete Fit Out
Situation:
Subterranean entertainment venues need big personality and plenty of fun to engage customers. The Donnelly Group needed a complete overhaul of a basement location for a destination entertainment zone for after work social fun and lots of craft beers on tap.
Setting:
Located on the basement level of the Donnelly’s Walrus Pub, Pong Bar is a lively beer hall with tabletop tennis, TV’s and stand-up bars.
Solution:
EN2’s crew provided Demolition, General Contracting and Project Management. New design and build out started with a cool speakeasy style staircase leading to the space. EN2 installed new electrical, lighting, venting and ceiling systems. New wall treatments – textured, plaster patina and fun blackboard paint were applied. Graphic floor tiles and an 1890 vintage bar (carefully dismantled from a bar in New York and reassembled by EN2 in Toronto) added instant game and character to the space. Wrap around bar rails, custom picnic benches and real beer kegs animate the casual space. TV’s and table tennis provide the live action.
Success:
Pong Bar scored on all counts – it was on budget, on schedule and on theme. A real crowd pleaser, its raw and authentic and just what the target group – after work and condo crowd wants.
